( Red ) Painted Outdoor Oriental Rugs on Concrete!

You loved my blue, and white painted rug…..

~ and so did I.

But I ran out of blue paint and I am trying to use what I have……

Ready for a change?

Want to see how I spruced up a sad little sitting area, with this “RED, Painted, Outdoor,  Oriental Rugs” in my “work station” area?

Close your eyes if you don’t want to see….

This is a little area that can get “mildewy” and just always seems dirty. I thought the rug may help hide some of the darkening that comes every year on the concrete.

Here is my work station area and you can just glimpse the “old” sitting area behind it.

This is also the entrance to my pool, and when I am not painting, I would like for it to be a pretty and welcoming entrance.

Now………

Much brighter isn’t it?!!!

My daughter did a quick coat of black spray paint on our “previously brown” painted chairs.

Just like with my blue and white rug…..I just played with this stencil and made it my own design. TOTALLY imperfect and full of flaws but that really doesn’t show.

~And I’m too lazy to make it perfect.

Honestly….

I’m lazy.

This is the little oriental rug right in front of the door to my pool area.

This is the “photo bomber”- pool cleaner, that kept popping up in my photos, when I went to edit them.

If he wasn’t free labor and my child….

I would fire him.

Big ‘ole crack right in the concrete, and this is my driveway concrete. It is rougher than my cabana area.

Painting on this surface was a bit different and the rough surface made it a little difficult  to make straight lines.

But dang……what a difference! Who cares about crooked lines! I likey!

We are going to add some fun words to our “re-purposed” door art, and I am trying to figure out what to do with the space over the two chairs. I don’t want it too busy ….

Any thoughts?

Love it as-is! It’s perfect. Looks great girl. And I don’t know how being on your hands and knees painting can be considered lazy? You are a hard working lady!! Really looks super Rebecca!!

What a great idea!!! How about a pallet ‘Welcome” sign. They have a really cool one on Pinterest. Not too overwhelming, just a bunch of pallet boards put together, some darker pallet boards around it, but stained a bit darker, for the frame and then “Welcome” stained in the center.
    Good Luck to you!

It looks awesome! Great job : )

Keep the stories coming. It helps me get motivated to tackle projects around here…

This was a great idea, and you don’t even notice the crack because the rug is so nice!

L.o.v.e. it!! Wonder if I could talk Hubs into something like this? Our deck needs to be sealed and maybe this could do part of it…….?

Nice! I like it! Now I want to paint concrete. How about one of those life saver thingies (off a boat) on the fence between the chairs?

  7. Becca says:

That looks fantastic!! Wow … what a great addition to such a pretty space! AND, you don’t have to worry about it being bleached by the sun or mildewed like “regular” outdoor rugs! Thanks for sharing!

Love it! I looks great, I only wish I had an area outside I could do this on. My carport is about the only place, but my car sure would look better parked on a fancy rug. :)

This is such an awesome idea! I wish I was that creative =] The colors you used are perfect!

Really cute “rug”. Really, I’m just commenting because I thought it was cute how you “called your son out” :D !!
Cute kid. Nice mom. It gives me a great feeling. Keep up the good work.( both creatively and with your parenting ;) )
