Not Yo Grannies’ Cheese Ball Recipe

Want the perfect cheese ball recipe?

The one that is different than any other and will have your family and friends freaking out?

Eureka!

I found it!

By accident.

Pinterest has opened up a whole new world for me.

There is apparently a cheese ball recipe that EVERYone knows about.

The one with pineapple in it?

And chopped ham?

Yep….I thought you just bought them that way.

I  didn’t realize you could make them.

Seriously.

Until Pinterest.

So, I found the basic cheese ball recipe on Pinterest and saw how easy it was and thought I could definitely handle it.

Now, when I make it…..EVERYone loves it.

They always say…”This is just like the one my grandma always made but tastes so much better!”

Bless their grandma’s heart.

I pat them on their heads and smile very condescendingly……

Then they will rattle off the simple ingredients and then ask why mine is different.

And as always…because “I’m a blurter….I spill the beans on my “accidental” secret ingredient.

So, do you want to know what I added to my cheese balls and can “officially” call this my own idea, until fifty of you tell me that you already do this?

First, it wasn’t a genius in the kitchen moment. I do not have those.

It was just a “I’m from the south and we add this ingredient to a bunch of stuff moment”.

I figured  this ingredient could only make the cheese ball that is already delicious, taste so much better.

OH.MY.GOSH.

IT DID!

That’s it. One packet of BUTTERMILK Ranch to an already perfect recipe.

And you would NOT believe the difference.

Here is the easiest recipe in the whole world if you need a great finger food.

1.5 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

About six green onions (chopped)

Approximately 8 pieces of deli sliced ham (chopped)

I.5 cup of canned crushed pineapple, drained

I pack of BUTTERMILK Ranch mix

Chopped pecans as much or as little as you like

Mix softened cream cheese with all of your ingredients. Shape into ball and chill. Take chilled ball and cover with chopped pecans.

I swannie…..your friends will love it.

Match it up with some seasoned crackers and WHAM!

So, who wants to be first to tell me I’m not the inventor of this awesome added ingredient to the already perfect cheese ball?

- Don’t pop my bubble people.

I do want to know what you add to your cheese ball….now that I know you all make them and don’t buy them that way.

What is your secret?

I can’t wait to hear!

Love you all and hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

Love,

Me

You’re a hoot girlfriend! I’m not your typical cheeseball-lovin’-newly-southern-girl, but this recipe will definitely make me want to try one at my next gathering. I’m a recent lurker here and this recipe, along with your genius paint and primer all in one projects have spurred me on to finally post a comment. Thanks for your great blog, I so get your sense of humor, from one serial diy-er to another, THANKS darlin’ for your great ideas. You make me want to start a blog someday too! I look forward to more of your inspirational posts in 2013!!!
    Jules :)

  2. Sounds delicious! When I make a cheese ball, I don’t use pineapple, but I add a can of chopped green chilies, sprinkle the outside lightly with paprika, and roll in fresh chopped parsley.

  3. Holy yummmm!!! I make one with pumpkin and pineapple preserves that is TO DIE FOR!!! I’ll have to try this one!

I am a big fan of ranch dressing! My secret ingredient for mashed potatoes is a packet of Uncle Dan’s. I am the current winner of the “Mashed Potato Cook-off” in my family with this secret ingredient! Definitely going to try it in this cheese ball.

  5. I never eat cheeseballs. Which is odd. I love cheese. And pineapple. And nuts. It LOOKS delish though :) And you secret is safe with me.
