Ok….did you miss yesterday’s post?
I shared my discounted, spotted Frye Boots and how they made me so very, very happy and laugh so hard.
Ok, they didn’t. This is my Twitter profile pic. (FOLLOW MY TWITTER. I’m Like a Twitter-ologist now!)
Before I tell you about the boots….I wanted to explain this Twitter profile pic. I HATE, I know that is an awful word…..I LOATHE pictures of myself.
But I was heading to the Southern Blogger’s Conference and felt like my profile pic needed to be updated so that when everyone would act shocked that I looked different from my younger, skinnier profile pic I could just act like they hadn’t looked at my new pic and then they would think they were crazy and hadn’t paid attention to my profile pic and think they were the ones confused and not think that my old pic was just taken down and that I was a liar and a fake.
It didn’t work. Everyone’s comment. “You look so different than I imagined!”. ~gulp~
“We thought you were SO tall in real life!” ~gulp~ (technically not my fault on that one) I’m 5′ so you know…….
Then the comment of…...”You looked so much skinnier and younger in your profile picture!!!!”.
Ok….no one said that. Wouldn’t that have been awful?
So, my daughter took fast pics of me before I left. I know I said I LOATHE pics of myself….well I LOATHE getting my pics taken. So this was a difficult photo shoot. For my daughter. Bless her heart. ; )
AND WE COULDN’T STOP LAUGHING BECAUSE I LOOKED AND ACTED LIKE A DORK WHEN I TRIED TO POSE.
So, I just gave up and went with the laughing one for Twitter and tried to find the most normal one for profile pic.
And I’m trying to stop being a hater on myself. I also wanted to honor the good job that my daughter did with an unwilling subject. The end.
She did a good job, didn’t she? Love the one on the bottom left, don’t you?
Ok….I know you have skimmed over and are ready for the FRYE boots scoop.
I told you one way to clean them yesterday and this next part is super important. Because when I tell you how to get your deals this will be a valuable tool.
Know a simple and easy product that CLEANS and SOFTENS leather? When I bought my boots they were stiff. After I took them to the shoe shop, they were sort of stiff again and not the warm color I wanted.
My Rebecca-pedia mind started clicking and I remembered back to my professional league softball days and the softening of my newly purchased gloves.
Ok. I lied. I barely made the private school girls softball team and I mainly sat on the bench after they had to let me on……..BUT I did have to soften my glove.
What did I use?
TaDah! I wonder if Ask Anna Mosley will start asking my advice? She is chop full of good tips!!!!!
What if she contacts me to be her assistant? I mean this is valuable info people. Don’t believe me?
Rub it on…… like all over……and just rub it in. Don’t rinse it off. Rub it in and it rubs off. Clear as mud?
You will see dirt come off on your rag. Rub it in good……..Ahhhhhh……make sure to take a big blurry pic of it.
Isn’t that a great pic?
Freaking you out?
Ok…..but look at the difference side by side of one just quickly done and one not yet “shaving cream-i-fied”.
One on left was “cream-i-fied”. It was hard to get a good pic but the difference was huge! Took out what looked like old watermarks etc and gave the boots the softest feel.
ALL OF THOSE YEARS ON THE BENCH DURING SOFTBALL DID NOT GO TO WASTE!!!!
Now…..I know you do not believe you can get discounted Frye Boots.
And when I show you how and where it will take a little bit of effort on your part. If you want to just be able to walk in a store and get them with no effort….go for it….but it won’t be at a discounted price.
Where did I get my boots?
I got them on Ebay. I know you look on Ebay and you see the high-priced Frye boots. You look on them and you don’t see your size. You look on and the prices turn you off, so you quit searching and give up.
But you have to be creative in your searches and I prove it below.
TIPS TO FIND YOUR FRYE BOOTS!!!!
#1. Use the word “Vintage Frye” in your search. Spell it Vintage FRIE, and FRY….sometimes it is spelled incorrectly in the listing. That can be to your advantage as others looking for them may not see the ones spelled incorrectly.
#2. Take out the word Vintage and try another search. Sometimes sellers using the word Vintage are using that word to try to put more value on their product so it can be a good or bad thing. INSTEAD…search Frye boots and then to the left, customize your search to “pre-owned.”
#3. Look for Buy it Now ones first. Sometimes a normal person puts their old Frye boots on with a low buy it now price and you can grab them up right after they are listed.
#4. Look for newly listed check those first! They may have “buy it nows” etc.
#5. DON’T BID RIGHT AWAY….DUH! You will run up the bids. Just watch it. Patience my little Frye followers…… You know how to click “watch this listing” or it says something similar, right? Do that and only bid towards the end.
#6. Don’t just look under Frye! I found one pair of my Frye boots under “Riding boots”. Someone really used them for riding. It was actually the pair that are in this post. That is why they were so water stained up high I think. These babies were really used in riding. The pic was blurry and bad but in the description it said Frye. Not in the title.
#7. Don’t be afraid of wear! You can sanitize the inside and NOW you know how to clean the outside. The aged leather is what others will LOVE in YOUR Frye boots. I promise.
Ok…….you still don’t believe that you can get them for as low as I did…..do you?
PEOPLE! Have I not shown you that the deals are out there? Have you not searched under my blog posts on all of my Craigslist deals? For those of you that will be reading this after the auctions have ended. I can’t keep updating the auctions but read the comments to know that there were actually real deals like I described and use my tips to find yours!
Ok….I am going to list a few auctions on ebay for you right now that could bought cheaply and I am going to put the price above the link because i know the price will be going up after I hit publish. DON’T BID RIGHT AWAY!!!
I just did quick searches in tan Frye boots so there are so many more out there.
I WISH THESE WERE MY SIZE! Do you know how classy and Ralph Lauren’ish these would look with black leggings or denim? WANT!
