Craigslist Coffee Table Answer and a TWIST !

It is neat to me how much you guys love the “Craigslist Flipping” guessing game!

You all had great answers.

Here was our average:
90     (2)
65     (2)
85     (1)
60     (1)

And two sweet readers, that I am not picking on, but I wish they would move here and buy my stuff!

STACEY 250.00
KARIN 200 .00

The question……What would I have listed it for?

I would have listed it for $65.00.

BUT…….Here is the twist.

The answers intrigued me.

I think I might have been a tad bit too cheap on selling it for $65.00 based on your answers.

So, what did I learn from our “flipping” lesson?

I believe, I would need to have priced it at $75.00.

I don’t want to go too high….I like for it to be a “deal” for both parties.

Remember….I price to “not dicker” on my prices.

The way my ads are written….that is clear and I have never had anyone try to get it for lower.

So….the help goes both ways. You guys are the best! You taught me something in your answers!

Now….for those of you just jumping in…..

Here are some links to our past Craigslist “flipping” series, if you need to catch up!

I will try to come up with a way I can condense these in a tab or sidebar button.

Eeek! It took me a year to make my own button….this may take some time.

And…..let me ask you something.

If you bought a sweet, little, antique, chair and you loved the wood so much that you couldn’t bear to paint it…..what would you do?

Would you want to slip-cover it? Just partially….to show the pretty wood.

What if you couldn’t sew?

Would you try to figure out how to do it without sewing?

Guess what?

That’s what I did………

And, I can’t wait to show you!

Love,

Me

too funny…I have to sell everything dirt cheap here in Michigan, since the economy is so bad here. But I always see others listing stuff in the hundreds and I thought…Somewhere else someone would pay 200 buck for this baby…:)  glad you sold it and kept it out of the landfill….:)

Your craigslist guessing game is such a fun idea. It’s kind of like one of the real estate shows on TV when you see the agents come in and say what they would list it for… and then you get to find out how much the house actually sold for. Fun!

  3. HI,
I am late to the party, but I read your blog and love it. My question is this: once you sell somthing big like this table, how do you send it? Just curious…the shipping could really knock out any profit.
    All the best,

    charlotte

  4. Hey Charlotte! I only sell to my local market in Craigslist. I do not send anything. Does that help? I do try to branch out in other areas of CL, that may be a 45 min. drive if it is a larger item, that may appeal to more people. Does that help? Thanks for stopping by! Stick around! I love having you! Love, Me

My head is hung in shame:(…I was excited about the table and guessed too high.  I wouldn’t do good at all on The Price Is Right..I would never make it past having my name called and coming on down… I am going to study up on your CL flipping series so that I will be better prepared next time.  I haven’t ever purchased anything from CL…only recently started peeking around to see what all is out there.

About the wood chair…I would help you make the slipcover! I love wood too and am afraid to paint! But, your transformation are beautiful and inspiring! Have a wonderful weekend!
